ABOUT ALEXANDER

Alexander was born and raised in Utah. In his early college years, he was introduced to the world of public service through internships with the United States Congress and with Utah's Governor's Office. He saw how good leadership and bad leadership affected the lives of thousands of people. Alexander finished his Bachelor's degree at the University of Utah and continued to get his Master's degree from George Washington University.

Alexander has dedicated his time to public service by formerly serving as the Board Treasurer for Restoring Ancestral Winds, an organization that focuses on murdered and missing indigenous women. He worked with the Utah Suicide Prevention Coalition to address ways to help our youth. Alexander was also the Director of Operations for Voterise, an organization that has assisted thousands of voters to get registered to vote.

In 2018 Alexander ran for State Senate and received over 30% of the vote from Democrat, Republican, and independent voters.

Alexander currently works in healthcare IT at the University of Utah. He enjoys spending his time with his wife Stephanie and with his dogs. He also enjoys playing music, fencing, and working on projects around his home.

ALEXANDER’S PRIORITIES

  • Myself and the majority of people have to go to work every day for a living. With inflation out of control, wages are not keeping up. Workers are the ones being taken advantage of and left to suffer. Most of us are not fortunate enough to be part of the property development club like many who serve in the legislature. I would support bills that guarantee paid parental leave for all workers and bills that strengthen unions.

  • I am deeply committed to making rent affordable and putting an end to predatory landlord tactics in Utah. Every resident deserves a safe and stable place to call home without the fear of exorbitant rent hikes or unfair treatment by landlords. I will advocate for comprehensive legislation that promotes affordable housing initiatives, incentivizes responsible property management, and holds predatory landlords accountable for their actions.

  • I am a strong proponent of personal and small business freedoms. It is well past time that we update our alcohol laws. Current restrictions make it difficult for restaurants to open and discourage people who would want to open a business in our state. Current laws also restrict any beverage above 5% alcohol must be sold in state liquor stores. I believe we should lessen the burden on breweries, distilleries, restaurants, and the general public.

  • I am committed to protecting our outdoors for the well-being of current and future generations. A crucial aspect of this commitment is the preservation of the Great Salt Lake, a vital ecosystem that requires our urgent attention. The lake serves a significant role in our regional climate. I support measures to conserve water usage and mitigate pollution. I also support investing in the expansion and accessibility of the UTA to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce carbon emissions.

  • I will support bills that bring robust economic development to Northern Utah through the creation of high-paying jobs. By investing in workforce development programs and incentivizing businesses that offer competitive wages, we can create a thriving economic environment. My vision includes advocating for infrastructure improvements, tax incentives, and streamlining processes to make Northern Utah an attractive hub for companies seeking to establish themselves in a region with a skilled workforce.

  • There are only 13 states that impose a tax on basic grocery expenses, Utah is one of them. The legislature has historically passed laws slightly lowering income tax. The results have only benefited the wealthy and pocketed the rest of us a few dollars a month. Let’s end taxes on the things that benefit us, the ones who actually need it.

  • I am committed to forging a path to homeownership that addresses the diverse needs of our residents. I will support the implementation of county requirements mandating a percentage of income-based housing availability. I advocate for the strategic use of mixed-use zoning in appropriate areas. By promoting residential and commercial integration, we can create dynamic neighborhoods that are not only livable but also economically vibrant. Families can live, work, and thrive, with a sense of community.
